Lucky to be there around 6 pm so that we didn’t line up for long.
Market beans: green beans with charred octopus, romesco sauce (momofuku style), chorizo and lemon basil leaves. Most delish chorizo bits, and lemon basil gives a phenomenal finish to this dish.
Smoked chicken wings: caramelized smoked chicken wings meet the most delicious sauce that we’ve ever had. When it came out, the wings were piping hot and crispy on the surface from the caramelization.
THE SAUCE. So we couldn’t help but asking for a bowl of steamed rice to enjoy the beautiful sauce after finishing the wings.
The most delicious kimchi (I know I’ve said THE MOST DELICIOUS a few times already, but I mean IT!) Perfect with the generous portion of freshly steamed rice. Yes we devoured that big fat bowl of rice. Friggin amazing.
Soy Sauce Egg: almost fully cooked cold egg with some sauce, topped with fried onions and chives.
Momofuku Ramen. First taste of the broth came to us as quite earthy with pronounced mushroom and kombu flavour. But starting to slurp the noodles with a few sips of the broth together gave it a taste of wonderfully done meat broth in depth combining all the ingredients – fatty tender pork belly and pork shoulder, slowly poached soft egg, roasted seaweed, and surprisingly CRISP napa cabbage – deliciously. It was certainly the moment of “shock & awe,” or the aha! moment of understanding why Momofuku ramen is distinguished from all others.
